Courses are approved by MSSI’s clinical faculty and carry CPD credit for the cadres each council regulates. The credit is reported in the council’s own format, on its own calendar.

From sign-up to a credit on your record

Register in a minute
Your mobile number is your account. A one-time code confirms it, you say who you are — cadre, council, workplace — and set a PIN for the phone channels.
Pick a course, or be assigned one
The catalogue shows what suits your cadre and where you practise; recommendations come with each course’s credit and length. Your organisation can assign courses and pay for them.
A short survey and a pre-test
Before the first lesson, a few questions about your practice and a pre-test set the baseline. Nobody sees the pre-test score until you have finished — it exists to measure your gain.
Learn, in short lessons
Videos, slide decks and text lessons of a few minutes each, with questions inside the videos and checkpoints along the way. On SMS and USSD the same lessons arrive as text; by voice, as a call.
Prove it in the post-test
When the content is done the post-test opens — the same standard on every channel, with your identity re-asserted by PIN or password. The gain between the two tests is yours to see.
Certificate and CPD credit
Pass, and a verifiable certificate is issued at once; the credit is reported to your council in its own format, and your CPD tally for the season updates on your profile.

Behind the platform
The Medical Simulation Skills Institute
MSSI was established in Accra in 2005 by Johnson & Johnson with the West African College of Surgeons — the first centre outside the United States to run Advanced Trauma Operative Management. Since then more than 92,000 health professionals from 13 African countries have trained there, in hands-on simulation, across surgery, emergency care, nursing, midwifery and pharmacy.
Its courses are accredited by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Ghana, the Medical and Dental Council, the Pharmacy Council, the Allied Health Professions Council, the West African College of Surgeons and the Royal College of Surgeons. MedEd Reach is how that faculty and that accreditation reach a health worker who cannot travel to a skills centre.

What a course is meant to change

Every course on MedEd Reach is written to named learning outcomes and measured against them. This is what the programme is designed to deliver.
For the health worker
Skills that are current and demonstrably gained — the pre-test to post-test difference is on the record. Credits that keep a licence in good standing without a day away from the ward. A certificate that can be verified by any employer.
For the facility and the organisation
Whole cadres brought to one standard on the conditions that matter most locally — postpartum haemorrhage, infection prevention, neonatal resuscitation — with completion visible to the people responsible for it.
For the community
Safer care where people actually receive it: in district hospitals, health centres and CHPS compounds, from the first minute of an emergency. That is the impact MSSI has trained for since 2005, and the reason this platform exists.

CPD reported in the council’s format on its calendar, a verifiable register of who completed what, and reporting that shows reach by cadre, region and season.

MedEd Reach starts with Ghana’s councils, cadres and networks. Each country joins with its own councils, languages, channels and season — English and French from the start, with the same courses adapted for each, so a course reviewed once can serve a nurse in Kumasi, Cotonou or Freetown alike.
